Past Perfect
You had studied English before you did your exams.

To show an past action before another past action and to give reasons of why things happened in the past
Practice the past perfect tense with the following exercises:
Make your own sentences by saying what happened before:
Example: You were very hungry à I was very hungry at school because I hadn’t eaten breakfast.
- Your teacher shouted at you when you walked into the classroom.
- Your mum phoned you and asked you why you weren’t home.
